Blessings - It's that time of year!

So as we near our departure date for Nova Scotia and Christmas holidays with the family life seems to be speeding up. We have been enjoying some great running with friends some in red suits!

We have decked the Halls and the Tree and attended the Jingle Bell Run! The temperature has dipped below minus 30 but I managed to get 20 kilometres in today. Five more sleeps and we will be in Nova Scotia for the holidays. Really looking forward to being with our families and our friends. More Later...Merry Christmas!

Finally...

...A Good Run! Packed my bag last night for post run. Decided I would start my long run early so that I could attend the Winter Social for the run club. I left shortly after 0730 and it wasn't too cold but man was it icy. I ran down to Wedgewood a real peaceful morning...a deer ran out in front of me and on the way back up another deer being chased by a coyote. The coyote decided the deer was too fast so he gave me the eye...I growled and he left. I felt pretty good, made sure I ate and drank this time before heading out. I'm happy because I felt strong at the end and I didn't feel sore or tight after the run. We had Lori and Duncan over for a nice brunch and was able to get some work done this afternoon.

Less than four weeks until we head home for the holidays!!! Next week only 26km so not too bad!

Great Week!

So it's always a good week when you get all your runs in that are on the schedule but I guess I shouldn't speak so soon since I have 24km to do tomorrow morning starting on 7am...YIKES!

Thank god the weather has turned a little warmer and a lot of the ice has been melting today. On Tuesday I did a 30minute speed set on the treadmill with a weights workout after. On Thursday Lee-Ann and I had a great run for about 55 minutes and it felt pretty good. Robert called at the last minute to say we had tickets to see Kenny Rogers of all people. It turned out to be a great evening as his show was first half of his hits and the second half was a christmas show...kind of got us in the spirit of things!

Classes went well with my group this week and I spent the day in BL yesterday and it wasn't too bad. The christmas parties will start soon and the weekends will just get busier. We ran this morning from the bean counter and the winds were pretty high but it wasn't too cold out. Tonight we are going to Dennis's for dinner so that will be really nice! Will report back tomorrow on my long run. Hamstring is hurting today...

My First Blog...Ever!

So after long discussions and many millions of photos from the last four years we have decided it's time for us each to have blogs to track our Wonderful Life!

Robert and I have shared slightly more than 4 years together and not a day goes by I don't spend a moment counting my good fortune. Robert and I met at the Rum Runners Relay in Nova Scotia four years ago and life has been wonderful ever since. I was at a time in my life when I was ready to welcome someone into my life and there he was.

Over the last four years we have triathlon'd our way to many beautiful places in the world. There were times when we were able to bring his beautiful children Jonathan and Erin with us and now we hold happy memories of many epic adventures with the hopes of many more adventures to come.

So here I am submitting my first entry into my blog which started with some encouragement from Robert.

Presently I am training for the Huntington Beach Surf City marathon which will be held on February 1, 2009. A couple of gals from the Northwest Territories and I have decided we deserve a break in mid winter along with a goal to keep us focused through the holidays. Today it was icy so I did some speedwork on the treadmill and a weights workout at our local City of Grande Prairie fitness facility - the Leisure Centre. I would really like to get back running a little more and be a little faster like I used to. I've been finding some new run partners, Lee-ann and Nicole and I'm hoping they will help me get through this winter training. I feel good today and am a little nervous about my long run this sunday since last sunday's 20km seemed really painful. I have 24km this Sunday and will keep you posted on how that goes.

Christmas is coming and it's good to have a goal, it won't be long before we start thinking about Ironman Canada training. It's a vicious circle but one we have come to love and share year after year. Our travels to BC for our race in Penticton have become very special and usually includes a visit with my brother and his family in Nelson! We also get to visit with many of our friends from Nova Scotia who come to do the race as well. It's crazy people like this guy who keeps me laughing, well fed and on my path to my fifth Ironman finish in 2009.

I hope you enjoy my first Blog...because it's A Wonderful Life!
